This week I received a surprise package from ORLY Germany with the velvet dream and darlings of defiance mini kits. They are the fall and winter/holiday collections for 2017. They also sent me their sec ‘n dry quick dry top coat and a sachet of the rich renewal creme in pretty, which can be used for hands, feet and body. It will be great for treating my hands after a long day of nail art and has spiced vanilla and white tea scent.

I am always excited to try new ORL polishes, because I find them to be really high quality. They have amazing neon polishes and also great crème polishes. Almost all their polishes have a glossy finish and if you pay attention to the ingredients, you will find ORLY polishes to be fantastic. They are 12-free! That means their nail lacquers are formulated without toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde resin, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, xylene, MEHQ/HQ, MIT, parabens, animal derived ingredients or gluten. They are also vegan and most importantly, cruelty free.

We will start with the recent fall collection 2017 – velvet dream.

As all collections, this comes in 6 new shades, silken quartz, just bitten, black cherry, velvet kaleidoscope, blue suede and november fog (left to right). To me these are great fall colors. The mini kit always has 4 of the shades and after trying these, I can say that black cherry and november fog are my favorites, though I wish I could have tried blue suede too.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

winter/holiday collection 2017 – darlings of defiance

Again we have 6 colors that are meant to match the christmas spirit, I feel they really do. The collection includes champagne slushie, faux pearl, stiletto on the run, penny leather, secondhand jade and once in a blue moon. We basically have all the typical holiday shades, a nice gold, red, dark green and frosty light blue. As addition they have added a light pearl creme color and a leather brown. My favorite is definitely once in a blue moon, it’s such a pretty color.

Conslusion: what I think

I actually think both mini kits are a hit. The dry time and application is always good, only for silken quartz, golden slushie and  once in a blue moon I added three coats. Velvet kaleidoscope was also added on top of a black base, so the duo-chrome would show up better. I also like the color selection, I think they fit the fall and holiday theme very well.
