Hello everyone,

today I have a little review for you about the new L’oréal Paris detox face masks.

Disclaimer: advertisement – the following products were bought and paid by myself.

Recently I came across these new detox face masks that L’oréal has released in September. I saw lots of posts on Instagram and wanted to try them myself. True to the motto “Insta made me buy it”. I am usually sceptical when it comes to skin care products from L’oréal. They are usually full of perfume and alcohol which is always irritating my sensitive skin.

Normally I stick to my guts and don’t buy to try, but this time I thought it might be different. Well let me tell you, I should have stuck to my guts.

Anyway, these three detox face masks each have a different purpose and today I would like to tell you what I think of the two of them that I have tried.

All of them contain of different types of clay and other special ingredients, which are supposed to cleanse your skin, but also detox & brighten, exfoliate & refine the pores or purify & mattify your skin.

As you can see, I only bought two of them, the grey and red one. I will get into why I didn’t buy the green one, later.

My opinion:

When I first tried it I was really excited, since I read a lot of positive comments on social media. The texture is really nice and creamy, yes. The first thing I realised when opening the glass, was the intense perfume smell…..not scent, SMELL. This is really one of the things I hate most about L’oréal products. Why do they have to do that? Anyway, the next thing I felt after putting it on was that the mask really did drain my skin of oils….which is bad. I could really feel my skin getting dried out. My skin was also tingling because of the alcohol in the mask. After 10 minutes I washed it of. Yes, maybe my skin, especially the pores on my nose, seemed cleaner than usually, BUT all the other negative things I mentioned above totally ruined it for me.

I will not use the mask again and I would not recommend it to people with sensitive skin.

Next up is the red face mask.

My opinion:

To make it short, it’s another fail for me. Not suitable for sensitive skin. It is the same as with the one before. It smells of perfume, the peeling particles are way too big and the mask dries out the skin. If you do need a nice exfoliating product for sensitive skin, try the what a peeling powder peeling from Beni Durrer, a much better alternative that does exfoliate but does not irritate your skin.

Lastly I wanted to include the information for the green mask as well, which I did not buy though, because reading that it is supposed to mattify is usually a clear indicator that the products will strip off all the oils and dry out your skin.

For me, as a person with highly sensitive skin that easily gets red and irritated, these masks are a waste of money. They each cost 10 € and did not care for my skin at all. I will give these away to someone in my family, maybe my sister-in-law. I clearly won’t be using them anymore.

I hope this review helps. Please tell me of your experience with these.

Have a great night
