[SoMoNight] PeTs (secret life of pets)

Hello everyone,

recently I went to the SocialMovieNight of The secret life of PeTs. This was a special SoMoNight, since it was held at the same time and in the same venue as the Germany premiere of The secret life of PeTs.

Again, I created a matching cake, let me show you.

The Secret Life of Pets premiered at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival on June 16, 2016 and was released to theaters in the United States on July 8, 2016 by Universal Pictures.  In Germany it was released July 28th.

It received mostly positive reviews from critics and has grossed over $406 million worldwide.

If you have seen the trailer, maybe you saw the cake that cat Chloe eye-balled.

This was the rough inspiration for my PeTs cake.

I baked three layers of a luscious chocolate cake, put them on top of each other with layers of cream cheese icing in between. To match the cake from the trailer I colored the icing and fondant in a nice pink. I cut out the official PeTs logo out of fondant and placed it on top of the cake. To finish the decoration I added sugar meringue in white and light pink.

I was pretty happy with the result, even though the transportation was a bit of a challenge since it was around 30 degrees in Berlin that day.

I really enjoyed the movie! It was so much fun and I laughed a lot. My favorite character was snowball and I can recommend this movie to all the families, but also everyone who loves animated movies.

If you want to see more about the event please check out the video (german) below.

Robert also filmed a really great review (german), so please check it out as well.

Did you already see the movie? Which character is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below.

Thanks to Universal for making this SocialMovieNight possible.
