Good evening everyone,

today’s post is loaded with pictures so you might want to grab a tea, lean back and relax.

This post is about Ciaté’s famous Nail Lab!
It is currently out of stock in the UK and USA, but you might be able to get it again some time later this year or you should check the internet for more opportunities to get this. I got mine at my local TKmaxx, which was a huge surprise for me. It was only 20,- € so I went to the cashier, shaking and asking if they made a mistake, but they told me that it’s all good and that this is the correct price. I couldn’t believe it!

Including:

• 6 x mini polishes (Mistress, Pillow Fight, Rain Coat, Ferris Wheel, Power Dressing & Amazing Gracie)
• 4 empty mini paint pot bottles
• 6 x suspension top coats
• 12 x 5g Glitters
• 7 x professional nail tools (1 scooper, 2 mini test tubes, 1 petri dish, 1 funnel, 1 mini nail file, 1 roll of customisable labels)

This is probably the product I wanted the most right after I saw it on the PR information. I mean come on, for a nail polish junkie like me this set is heaven. Who doesn’t want to mix their own polishes?

The Nail Lab comes in a solid hard paper drawer with three drawers and another one at the top to open.

The top presents kind of a mixing stationary for you to create your own nail polish creations, as well as two cases with cards. One set of cards for recipes and another set for “get the look” help.

On the sides of the Nail Lab you see all the different colors.

That’s how the open Nail Lab looks like.

Besides the card set’s and the mixing stationary the top also contains 6 mini polishes for you to start mixing immediately.

The first drawer contains the empty Ciaté bottles as well as the ones with the clear polish.

The second one contains all the glitters …

… and the last contains all the nail tools you need.

 

Of course I could not wait to try it so I started created my first polish with the Nail Lab.

What I used?

• equal parts of clear polish, snow virgin and amazing gracie
• 3 drops of polish thinner

for the glitter

• 1 scoop – white glitter from Ciaté
• 1 1/2 scoops – gold glitter from Ciaté
• 1 1/2 scoops – rose glitter from Ciaté
• 1 1/2 scoops – gold glitter from Michael’s Arts and Craft
• 1 1/2 scoops – gold bar glitter from Michael’s Arts and Craft
• 1 scoop loose pigments from Essence 10 fairy dust

First I mixed the glitters I wanted to use. Carfully I added scoop after scoop, closing and shaking the glitters up real good.

here is how my polish turned out, I call it Unicorn Dust

since the polish turned out to be a bit sheer I added two coats of amazing gracie as a base color before adding my polish.

I love the result. The glitter spread very evenly and smooth. Thanks to the drops of polish thinner the polish did not turn out to be to creamy.

How do you like it?

 

After I was done with this one I wanted to try more, so I took out the polishes I did not use too often to create more unique polishes.

The next polish should be purple.

What did I use?

• clear polish
• Artdeco 146
• equal amounts of white polish, UMA’s spectacular and #flashmob’s purple

for the glitter

• 1 scoop – light purple glitter from Michael’s Arts and Craft
• 2 scoops – dark purple glitter from Michael’s Arts and Craft
• 1 scoop – silver glitter from Michael’s Arts and Craft
• 2 scoops – white / see through sequins from Michael’s Arts and Craft

I like the result even though I wish it would be more opaque. I will definitely try it over a black base though. Maybe it turns out nicer that way.

Next I wanted to create a red glitter polish

What I used?

• Maybelline Colorshow – RED

for the glitter

• 1 1/2 scoops – Essence 04 black glitter
• 1 scoop – holo black glitter from Ciaté
• 1 scoop – red glitter from Ciaté
• 1 scoop – red glitter from Michael’s Arts and Craft
• 3 scoops – red sequins from Michael’s Arts and Craft
• 2 scoops – black sequins from Michael’s Arts and Craft

I might add this over a coat of normal red polish to make it more opaque, but I love the result with the black in it.

Last but not least I created a green polish.

What I used?

• equal amounts of Cosmetica Fanatica 53-189.1, light green japanese polish and NYC 150 platinum carat
• a drop of dark green polish from basic [b]

for the glitter

• 2 scoops – light green glitter from #flashmob
• 2 scoops – light green glitter from Michael’s Arts and Craft
• 2 scoops – dark green glitter from Michael’s Arts and Craft
• 2 scoops – dark green bar glitter from Michael’s Arts and Craft
• 3 scoops – light green sequins from Michael’s Arts and Craft

I feel okay but not too happy about this polish.

Your opinion?

 

In general I love the idea of creating new polishes. One day I would LOVE to create my own collection. I will for sure try out more combinations.

For me the Nail Lab was a total steal. The price was incredible for all the things you get in here, even though I feel the original price is a biiiii~t too much haha
